Coaching Model: Potential

2019/04/17

A Coaching Model Created by Ciprian Negura
(Life and Career Coach, ROMANIA)

Life_and_Career_Coaching_Model_Ciprian_Negura_1

My Purpose: {Supporting achievement of one’s highest potential/”best version”} in career/ life

The Need for Change: {Facing exponential change/VUCA environment? Technological ®Evolution}

Drivers for change:

  • We face an unprecedented, exponential change of humanity
  • The pace of change is faster than ever
  • Most of the jobs are at risk in the face of digital automation
  • Environments are more Volatile, Unpredictable, Complex and Ambiguous
  • Technology evolves faster than one can adapt
  • Singularity became a topic for debate

… Humans Need to  #Adapt

Humans have Potential: {Yet unleashing own potential can be daunting for many adults; assistance is required}

Personal/<Self> development (Career –Life) can be really hard for most adults, especially the +40s that find their skills obsolete and irrelevant in the new reality

  • Discovering one’s Purpose-in-Life is not an easy, straight forward process
  • Inward Looking –Self-Discovery is not taught in schools
  • Most trainings focus on Problem Solving and not Strengths –discovery/development
  • Soft skills gain in importance in the competence mix of the future
  • Career moves often put pressure on “stretching” one’s Personal Values
  • Stress is a big enemy of Positive Thinking

Integrated Model: {Mixed coaching –Mentoring assistance, Self-discovery workshops & Tools, Skills of the future}

I am proposing an integrated coaching model targeted at unleashing one’s #Potential/<Self> Discovery

  • Inward Looking –Self-Discovery
  • “Strengths –discovery” focused
  • Personal Values –driven
  • Positive thinking process
  • Tools: CBT, AI, Positive thinking, Strength Finder, SIY, …

Potential: The Coaching Model

Life_and_Career_Coaching_Model_Ciprian_Negura_2

  • Purpose
  • Objectives
  • Time plan
  • Explore (self-discovery, strengths discovery)
  • Nurture / Needs for development
  • Train (new) “muscles”
  • Iterate(ions/cycles)/ Innovate
  • Achievements /Acknowledge progress
  • Learn(ingpoints)

In each of the proposed model phases the coach provides support to the coachee such as to find the answers to the difficult questions specific to each development phase:

  • Purpose: assist the coachee in discovering its own Purpose by providing specific tools/focused sessions;
  • Objectives: support the coachee in selecting the SMART objectives for the coaching journey;
  • Time plan: agree with the coachee with a specific time plan, targeted at achieving the specific objectives;
  • Explore (self-discovery, strengths discovery): help the coachee to discover its strengths and true self, resources to be used in the transformational journey;
  • Nurture/ Needs for development: identify ways to further nurture strengths but also identify needs for further skills/capabilities development (new “muscles”);
  • Train (new) “muscles”: keep the coachee engaged in the process of developing new “muscles”; alternate coaching sessions with mentoring and guiding the coachee, identify the right training and resources for skills/capabilities development;
  • Iterate(ions/cycles) / Innovate: coachee applies the newly acquired new skills & capabilities in its real life situations; find new paths and create new opportunities targeted at reaching the objectives;
  • Achievements /Acknowledge progress: celebrate the successes;
    Learn(ingpoints): encourage coachee to reflect on the lessons learnt/learning points from each experience;

The Process

  • Goals
  • Self-Discovery/Assessment
  • Awareness/Reality check
  • Acceptance –setting SMART objectives
  • Plan
  • Execute/Accountability
  • Check
