A Coaching Model Created by Jill St. Vincent
(Weight Loss & Relationship Coach, UNITED STATES)
My coaching model is called the Divine Model. It is a linear model but flexible to the client’s needs. Most clients will follow this in a linear fashion.
The word divine really spoke to me in creating my model. My intention and process for my clients is a spiritual journey. Many people can relate to the word Divine, because it can mean the following: spiritual, godlike, the universe, holy, celestial and religious.
I would like to introduce my first phase which is the Discovery phase.
Discovery:
This is the first session with clients. The goal here is to discover what the client wants out of coaching and his/her ultimate goals. Asking about one’s belief system is crucial to me.
Typical questions asked might be:
- What have you done in the past that you really enjoyed?
- What have you done in the past where you felt success?
- What beliefs hold you back from what you want?
- What beliefs are not serving you?
- What do you love to do?
- If you only had 6 months to live – what would you do?
- If you only had 3 months to live – what would you do?
Intention or Intended goals:
This phase is about clarifying one’s intention. Critical feedback that I can give to the client is:
- Can you wrap your head around your intention?
- Is your intention doable?
- How do you feel about this intention?
Sometimes clients set an intention that is so big or vague that they can’t wrap their mind around it and don’t know where to start to create their intention. Example: I want to save the world. Ideally, the intention and vision should be doable – so the client can believe in a success and later celebrate a success.
At this phase, the client can also set actions and goals to create the intention and vision.
