Coaching In Asia
ICF credentialing is extremely important in Japan as evidence by the large number of Master Certified Coaches compared with other countries.
As of 2020 Japan has 31 ICF MCC Master Certified Coaches, 91 PCC Professional Certified Coaches and 106 ACC Associate Certified Coaches listed in the ICF Global Coach Directory.
According to the ICF Global Coaching Study 2020:
- Professional Coaches grew by 42% in Asia between 2015 and 2019.
- 73% of coaches in Asia are external coaches and 20% are internal whilst 7% do both
- 93% of managers/leaders using coaching skills have received some coach-specific training.
- Almost one in two such respondents (48%) hold membership in a professional organization
- 45% had achieved coaching certification or credentials.
Clients are Looking for Certified Coaches
Coaching has roots from a variety of theories and philosophies including adult education, positive psychology and organisational psychology. And it can be found in an increasing number of industries and professions. It is not a singular practice. Consequently it cannot be taught as such.
At ICA, we like to plan your exit at the beginning. You will graduate with the confidence, skills and knowledge needed to coach anyone anywhere in the world, your own unique coaching model and portfolio, and a coaching certification that is recognised globally.

ICA'S TRAINING IS MORE THAN JUST ZOOM CLASSES
We don't just teach - we specialise in the application of knowledge.
Just as coaching is all about making deep and sustainable changes, so our learning method is about deep and life long learning. We use an online classroom to give you as much"knowledge" as we can upfront - then we work with you on applying that knowledge to your specific situation.
At ICA the term online learning refers to an interactive e-learning methodology and a thriving community of networks and friendships. Created by the ICA founder Robyn Logan, back in 2001, ICA's online learnsite hosts all the required learning materials; module downloads, video tutorials, curated resources, class schedules and the ICA Coaches private forum.
The first thing you do when you join our training is spend some time looking around the virtual corridors of ICA - unpacking your learnsite, meeting your faculty, meeting your peers, and joining an orientation call. Then using your graduation checklist you map out a learning schedule that best suits your study goals (options to fast track or take your time).
Most of the students in our program have ongoing family or work commitments that influence the time they set aside for study. We totally understand that and for this reason our programs are flexible and designed so that you create the study schedule that fits with your lifestyle. If you miss a class one week, you can take it another week at the same time. And, if you have to travel or relocate geographically, then you just jump to a class schedule that fits with the new time zone.
GRADUATE WITH YOUR OWN UNIQUE COACHING MODEL
When coaching was a new profession, it was perfectly acceptable to simply call yourself a coach. But today the coaching profession is well developed across many industries and professions around the globe and the need to specialize and showcase your uniqueness is increasing.
So, although you will graduate with the skills to coach anyone, anywhere in the world, we also teach you how to specialise. We will look at your background, how it intersects with coaching and how it can be blended with coaching and then ask you two specific questions; who do you want to coach?, and how do you want to coach? From this you will create your own niche and coaching model, showcasing your unique strengths, skills and expertise to future employers or clients.
LEARN A COACHING FRAMEWORK UNIQUE TO ICA
We are constantly grappling with change – changes we want to make happen, changes we have to make, and changes that are happening to us. FlipIt is based on the idea that the way we see our world is a choice. The same event can happen to two different people and they will respond in completely different ways.
The framework is a 4 step process (Find It, Feel It, Frame It, Flip It). We teach this framework in all our classes (ACTP and ACSTH) and our Advanced Program coaches graduate with a 12 month FlipIt Facilitator license. However, you don't have to be a coach to use this tool, with many individuals and workplaces integrating it into their work or life. Read More
