Coaching Model: ME Drive BCD4Y

A Coaching Model Created by Gail Anette Regina Walters
(Blended Coach, SOUTH AFRICA)

Introduction

Most times of my life, I realized that the experience of driving a car is the perfect analogy when discussing Coaching. No matter how the road declines or inclines, the car is in drive mode traveling through smooth and rough terrain, potholes, crossing bridges but staying on-road. That experience resonates with why a Blended Coaching session is a requirement.

So with a swirl and twirl into drive mode, the drive is only when the “Client is in action – ME DRIVE”, which stands for “self”- Client”.  The moment has many levels of driving to make the drive purposeful. It is with Blended Learnings that each Client can find their purpose. Taking into consideration that specific Clients require tailor-made services and not an entire basketful whilst other Clients require the full bouquet, the reason that a variety of offerings are available.

Winding down the windows, Clients know how much Authenticity and Transparency needs to happen for their entire life journey.

I chose Blended Coaching due to the various projects that I work on with both current and prospective clients. I am completing a certified board director course with IODSA (Institute of Directors in South Africa) beginning February 2020, which will allow me to be recognized as a service provider on tenders and organizational service provider contracts. In doing so, I can increase my prospective business opportunities.  I have been a member of the IODSA for 6 years but without the required certification, I am very restricted and this is due to high levels of corruption and fake qualifications in my country. This level of corruption is what makes qualifying so important, the truth is on paper

Why Coach Lights?

As the lights of a car are essential and are used at all levels of the journey, my clients will be in action switching on their lights. I am in the passenger seat or back seat with powerful questioning, agreement, presence, direct communication, active listening and curiosity, action plan, managing the process throughout the session, and thereafter within the Client’s journey.

For a motor car

Coaching to my clients – lights (eye – vision)

Coach lights, also known as opera lamps, are the slender rows of lights commonly seen attached to vehicle pillars. … The light base contains bulbs within light harnesses, wired into the vehicle power.

Unanimous with Limousines but not limited as they can be used on many cars

We have beamed headlights, dipped headlights, fog lights, and interior lights, etc.

Whichever blend, the Client will be turning on their respective lights.

Individuals/groups have the ability in my sessions to get to turn on their internal lights at whichever level or type of gear they are sitting at, positioning is essential.

Night lights:  dark times and looking for the edge to turn these areas into light

Dipped headlights:  during low lights in their lives, they will be able to receive a Blended learning service to increase their “visibility”

Fog lights:  Blur moments, the Client can select the type of sessions and time-frames removing or reducing the “blur”.

Taillights: When to turn on the warning lights – Organisational recognition, relationship recognition, or family past issues impacting on individuals.

Signal lights:  Change in direction, whichever indicator of change must be applied will be offered in agreed sessions.

Brake lights:  Slowing down and applying brakes to stop doing meaningless stuff in life. Break-in sessions and time for ridding of old, reflection, and recollection time to pursue new opportunities.

Hazard lights:  When in distress, life traffic, pain, inconsistent, unclear, pause control applied to suit every need of blended coaching for moving forward and calming the heavy pouring of tears, anger, frustration, or grief.Recommendation/Referral mode of a medical specialist if required.

Ignition Control – Getting started and turning the wheel

This is the knowledge and understanding of the process as well as the variety of styles, rules, skills, and techniques which will be applied appropriately. These techniques will be adjusted according to the context in which the Blended Learnings take place.

The obvious is the vehicle for analysis, namely; curiosity, reflection, managing process, performance, productivity, ethics, action plan, competencies, and markers. These vehicles for analysis will help me as a Blended Coach “to enable the CLIENT in achieving success in specific areas of their lives.

A Client (in a group or as an individual) with no desire for Blended Learnings is questionable and this then goes back to, “is this Client coachable or not ready for Coaching at a given time. If it is a business client sponsored by an organization, it will be a matter of transparency for the organization regarding whether to invest in the client or if the situation is more complexed.

The ignition switch is crucial as this turn of the key is to ignite the change and observe behaviors over time.  Clients will need to focus and be committed as a lack of switching on the ignition can mean many things within a “blend of learnings”.

Lanes/Road Tracks

Four lanes/tracks on which the Client/Executive Sponsor chooses on how to take ME DRIVE into action, not competitively or recklessly but with caution. Every lane/track in life is controlled by the driver-ME DRIVE.   CLIENT in a ME DRIVE has to remember that these sessions can tap into the past based on CLIENT’S-ME DRIVE state and control of all the levers. Speed but with control and understanding for that Client/s who want a rush blend of learnings by intentionally omitting the essentials but still seeking the same benefits of a Limo drive.

Conclusion

Blended Coaching designed 4 you (BCD4Y) offers specialized, ready-made, and customized packages but the ethos of the organization is to make more differences through a blend of learnings and to journey with all its Clients.  ME-DRIVE invites Clients for a purposeful vehicle session/s in an ethical, safe environment with all legitimate processes designed professionally for the Client’s success.
