What is a Flipped Classroom?
Many educational organisations are realizing that the old ways of teaching and learning are not working. The days of the teacher standing in front of the board and "lecturing" are becoming fewer and fewer. Instead teachers are making learning materials available BEFORE class and then using actual class time to deepen the knowledge and overcome challenges.
How Does Flipped Learning Apply to ICA Coach Training?
There are still many coach training organizations delivering training in the old way, with the teacher up the front and the students watching and listening attentively. There is very little time for one on one contact with the lecturer and there is little to no time for reflection.
You will not find traditional lectures in our school, instead we use an online classroom to give you as much "knowledge" as we can upfront. You download all our modules in PDF form and read them. You can visit our Training Forum and see the conversations that previous students have had around the topic. You can even Google it yourself and talk to colleagues. Then when you come to class you come with a good knowledge of the subject matter, some preliminary ideas already formed and some questions of your own. The time you spend with our coach trainers is spent DEEPENING your knowledge, not gaining it.
This style of learning also provides a very important additional element - that of REFLECTION. Coaching is an internal skill, it is a skill that gets better the more you practice and the more you learn. So allowing for time in between training sessions is essential.
When you train with us we will not waste valuable time going over material you have already read. It is expected that students come to class already having read the lecture notes for that module and the time is then spent discussing and deepening your understanding of the concepts

"During a laser coaching session, I had the confirmation that I am on the right career path and that in fact I will be good at what I do. On the flip side, it released in me a whole bunch of fear! I had to dig deep in order to embrace and acknowledge the coach that I am today"
Life Coach, SAINT LUCIA
"When working with my peer coach I realized that if I could choose to let go of my limiting beliefs then I could accomplish anything. I was at that moment I realized that coaching really works"
Life Coach, UNITED STATES
"In ICA, there is a common adage that “after the first few sessions all coaching is life coaching”. My experience really solidified that truth to me. It didn’t matter that I didn’t have context for some of the topics we explored. My job was to be a coach, not an expert in the areas that she explored."
Executive Coach, CANADA
"The Advanced ICA syllabus holds the topics I always wanted to grow and evolve in, in a more profound and structured way. I love the ICA open approach to be able to develop as a coach in my own unique authentic way."
