What is Coaching and How is it Used in The Workplace?

Coaches partner their clients in a challenging and creative process that inspires them to live and work at their very best. Coaches work on developing clients' self awareness and emotional intelligence so that can make the smartest, most empowering decisions for themselves.

Workplace coaching gives people the skills, tools and insights they need to be more effective in their own role and also their management or leadership of others.

Is it training? No, training programs usually have a predetermined learning outcome with a set curriculum. Coaching looks at where the client is now, where they want to be, and then helps them get there. Is it consulting? No, coaching is different from consulting in that it does not seek to present expert solutions or answers. Rather a coach supports and challenges their client to find their own answers.

Who is it For?

If you are a leader, manager or HR professional workplace coaching skills are essential. But the truth is, workplace coaching benefits everyone. As change becomes a constant feature of most workplaces, and as workplaces continue to demand more from their people, coaching is quickly becoming an essential skill. The ability to problem solve, give effective feedback and make decisions from an emotionally intelligent framework are critical. The ability to get more out of people (including yourself) is a sought after workplace skill.

How is International Coach Academy Different?

ICA is recognised worldwide as the only coach training school that teaches its students to develop their own unique coaching model. Most workplace coaching programs teach standard coaching models such as the GROW model (Goal, Reality, Options, Wrap-up) and although this is a perfectly fine model, it does not apply to every client or every workplace. Coaching doesn't happen in a vacuum, it happens for specific reasons in particular locations and cultures. A one size fits all approach is never going to be as effective as a tailored solution.

At ICA we teach you to craft your own model, within an existing framework - the FlipIt Coaching Framework.

The FlipIt Coaching Framework

We teach a powerful coaching framework; one that has been used by coaches and group leaders around the world for over 20 years. In this course we not only teach you using this framework, we teach you how to take it back into your workplace and use it with others.
