Choosing a Coaching Certification

Not all coaches need or want an ICF Credential,  but we would highly recommend that all coaches become certified.  So, what is the difference?

Deciding which coaching certification you need if any can be bamboozling.  Not all coaches need a coaching credential, but we highly recommend they complete a certification with an accredited school.  We have set out to explain the difference between coach credentialing, certification and accreditation and provided resources to help you decide which study option is best for you and your plans for coaching.

ICA has been around as a school since 2001 has trained over 4500 coaches in 92 different countries.  We have been a global school since day one and made the decision to accredit with the ICF over local based system (RTO & Cert IV) for very specific reasons:

  • The ICF were, and continue to be the most established peak body in coaching worldwide. With chapters in many countries around the world they offer the most “global” service to date.
  • Coaching is a global clients from any country in the world. Provided they speak the same language and can learn how to use there is no reason to service only a smaller, local market.

Clients want to know they are not just employing someone calling themselves a coach, but that they are in fact employing someone who has been through a rigorous training and accreditation process.  I have personally written a certification whitepaper to help unravel some of the terminology, pathways and certification options for coaches.

An 'All Inclusive' Learning Experience

At ICA the term all inclusive means - no hidden costs, no unexpected certification hurdles,  and full access to our coaching community. A diverse and connected community of coaches who will warmly welcome you to our community.

And for the month of March, it also INCLUDES 12 MONTHS ICF MEMBERSHIP.   To read about the benefits of ICF membership, click here

Select The Program That Will Best Suit Your Plans for Coaching

We are often asked 'Which program is best for me?' This is a totally understandable question because coach training is an investment of both time and money and it's important your decision is one that will fit your budget, learning style, plans for coaching and confidence  We suggest anyone joining a coach training program considers the following.  And, if you need help, let us know.  All our program advisors are certified coaches, and ICA graduates.  They know our programs first hand and know which program is best for which coaching opportunity.

  • Plans for Coaching

How do you plan to use coaching? Did you want to blend coaching with your existing profession? Become a corporate coach? Or, set up your own coaching practice (and need business building guidance)

  • Credentialling

All coaches should be certified. But, after that, do you think you will need an ICF credential such as ACC, PCC or MCC? If so, then we highly recommend you choose a program that offers either an ACSTH or ACTP track

  • Budget

Are you better to take advantage of an interest free payment plan (3, 6 or 12 months) or save 5% on your tuition with a single payment?

  • How Much Time Do You Have?

Do you have a deadline in mind for your completion? And, are you the sort of person who likes to take their time, or do you want / need to fast track?

ICF Accredited since 2001 +

International Coach Academy's training has held ACTP, ACSTH and CCE accreditation since 2001. We have been a global school since day one and made the decision to accredit with the ICF over alternatives such as IAC, WABC etc because the International Coach Federation (ICF) were, and continue to be the most established peak body in coaching worldwide.

We Truly Care About Your Success +

Community Support is core to the way we do business. We truly care about our students and support you from the day you enrol right through to your graduation. We appreciate that joining a coach training program is an investment of your time and money, and one you may have considered for a long time.  So, our team of support staff are dedicated to making sure you maximise your return on investment by creating a trouble free, rich and fulfilling learning experience.

Lifelong Networks and Friendships +

Because our training is virtual, you get to build relationships and friendships with like minded coaches from all around the world.  Your not limited by physical location. Our coaching community is rich with diversity, with over 4500 coaches, from 90 different countries. There's a strong sense of camaraderie, with many of our graduates continuing their connections long after they complete their coach training.

Flexible Study Options (Fast Track or Take Your Time) +

At International Coach Academy we aim to make our coach training as flexible as possible. You can study to become a coach whilst you are working or at home looking after your family.  You choose when you learn. Most of us are leading very busy lives, some have families some have full time jobs. Whatever your commitments are, the great thing about our classes is that you can always find a way to fit them into your schedule. And if you miss a class it doesn’t matter, just pick it up the week after.

You Graduate with your own unique Coaching Model +

The coaching market is saturated with cookie cutter coaches - all learning the same old models (GROW model etc.) and then coaching with the same old processes. At ICA we help you to create a coaching model that is unique to you, to the clients you want to coach, and to the coaching products or services you will offer.

Coach Training Schools are like Coaching Services in that they will all offer a degree of 'sameness', but then be different in their quality of service or product, and personality. The majority will (or should) offer Accredited Training, Certification, Credential pathways and some form of learning guarantee. Their tuition fees might also be comparable.  From talking to our community, we've been able to pick out 6 factors that make ICA unique
