Who will you be as a Coach?

Aligning your life with your values is important for gaining the right employment . Getting a job is great, but getting a job you love is even better.

At ICA, we know that many students are looking for healthy income streams in conjunction with other outcomes like better personal resilience, improved careers or relationships, or increased confidence.  We know that improved self-awareness helps you understand yourself better and how you respond to situations.

And, it's the coaches who PLAN  that are the most likely to succeed.  We strongly recommend you prepare your plan before you begin your coach training, to be sure the path and training you follow is aligned with your end goals.

The Coach Development plan is an opportunity to explore who you could be as a coach, how you learn best, and what you plan to achieve and over what timeframe. Our advice - be mindful that nothing is locked in stone. Your plan is a guide and can change along your coaching journey.

Coaching is more than a set of tools and techniques, it is a highly refined combination of advanced knowledge, technical skill, intuition, and “knowing”.  The learning required to be a coach is also multi faceted, with many different theories of learning, and many different individual learning styles.  In this module, we present the different learning theories and styles and explore ICA’s learning theory. From this, you will be invited to identify your own learning style and then start to map out a Learning Plan for your coach training.

Coaching is a global profession, with emerging technologies that increasingly bring people, cultures, and generations together.  Our graduates work as professional coaches in private practice, multinational firms or organisations and coach locally and globally.

As such, we chose to align our training with the International Coach Federation and have been accredited with the ICF since 2001 (over 20 years).  They continue to be the most established peak body for coaching, with chapters in many countries around the world. They offer the most “global” service to date.

AS AN ICA STUDENT...
you will learn the skills and knowledge needed to coach anyone, anywhere in the world. This includes harnessing the power and possibilities of a profession that spans the globe. Your membership includes full access to our Learnsite (schedules, curriculum, worksheets, resources) and to our community (coaches living in 92 different countries around the world, with many speaking more than one language).  It's a diverse and rich learning experience with global networks and lifelong friendships.

AS AN ICF MEMBER...
you showcase your alignment with globally recognised standards of practice to your clients and future employers. You can use the ICF logo on your website, business cards etc as a way boost your industry credibility, and will benefit from the ICF's lifelong learning and professional development opportunities.

Not Just ANYONE can access ICF Membership

To be a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF) you must meet at least one of the following requirements.  Your Coach Training with ICA will be your eligibility, and we'll organise the membership for you.

  • Hold a current ICF Credential (ACC, PCC, or MCC)
  • Have completed at least 60 hours of coach-specific training that meets ICF standards
  • Be enrolled in 60 hours of coach-specific training - ACTP or ACSTH (eg. ICA's Coach Training)

What Happens in an ICA Classroom

There will generally be between 10 - 20 students in each classes, and although they will be dialing in from many different countries, they will most likely live in a country that has the same time zone as you.  You will also find they are often at the same learning level. For example: if you are a new student joining a 'What is Coaching' class then there will most likely be other new students in that same class (because this is an introductory module).

A member of ICA's faculty will open the call and greet students as they arrive.  Most people will be on video but this is optional (you can just use audio).  Then the learning begins, and it's up to you if you actively participate or quietly observe.
