Building Sustainable Leaders Leslie Ford_Coaching_Research_Paper

A Research Paper By Leslie Ford
Education Coach, UNITED STATES

To prepare to learn communities to be redefined and prosper in a world of complexity and unpredictability, it is challenging to engage with these levers of change and opportunity. As we deal with the COVID-19 virus, a sandbox suitable for using adaptive thinking, we are going through a complex and uncertain case. All of these likely scenarios will require staff development on an individual and community level in order to be successful. Building sustainable Leaders’ understanding of emotional intelligence and personal qualities is necessary for establishing fruitful work connections in teams, committees, and educational institutions. These elements lay the foundation for the importance of coaching, one of the most effective change agents, in helping emerging leaders in education.

Sticky vs. Step Leslie Ford_Coaching_Tool

A Coaching Power Tool By Leslie Ford
Education Coach, UNITED STATES

Sticky vs. Step Power tools allow us to expand our thinking, question our beliefs and mindsets, and generate new learning. Clifton’s moving poem reminds us that, like a river, we are constantly churning and flowing toward our goal. Because we are creatures capable of learning, growing, and becoming, our thoughts, beliefs, and prior experiences tell us, but do not fully explain us. Personal learning is an invitation to learn about yourself or others in a whole new light when using these power tools. As you use them, take the time to read, apply, and reflect.

PULSE

PULSE Education Coaching Model Leslie Ford

A Coaching Model By Leslie Ford
Education Coach, UNITED STATES

The PULSE model incorporates design thinking principles to produce a tool that allows managers and those seeking leadership positions to improve their skills while addressing real-world problems in their school or district. Practical thinkers are those who manage people, chair or sit on committees or sit with decision-makers. They are looking for a method or system that will allow them to think through multi-layer challenges with stakeholders with different agendas while working with a limited number of people, time, place, and money to achieve a desired amount of change. Succeeding the implementation of this Developmental Coaching paradigm, PULSE recognizes both the immediate need for efficiency and incorporates double-loop learning through a regular reflection.

What is, What could be, and the Road Forward

Road Forward Education Coaching Model Rob Street

A Coaching Model By Rob Street
Education Coach, HONG KONG

It will be critical to keep the child grounded on the ‘Road Forward.’ Adults are accustomed to children providing the “right” answer. It should be obvious that the child, not the adult, has the correct answer. For younger children, an adult may have to judge what the child is capable of, but for older children, the decision must be made by the child. Instead of pressuring the child to make the plan robust, this idea is a crucial time to remain neutral, expressing neither support nor resistance to the child’s proposal.

Child Coaching – How Can Coaching Impact Children?

2022/03/07

Child Coaching Rob Street_Coaching_Research_Paper

A Research Paper By Rob Street
Education Coach, HONG KONG

The concept of Child Coaching (and tutoring in general) is not well understood throughout the community. A quick search reveals many people offering ‘coaching’ services, which are firmly in area 1, training executive or academic skills. This fact is not what I consider authentic coaching, and will not be discussed here. Almost all researchers agree that Child Coaching is effective. This is because this approach allows the child to be exposed to his or her limiting beliefs, which in turn opens the door to possible changes that may not have existed before. As well, the coaching approach is likely to spill over to any similar challenges the child faces in the future – having overcome one already, there is more chance of doing so again.

Grow vs. Status Quo

Grow vs. Status Quo Rob Street_Coaching_Tool

A Coaching Power Tool By Rob Street
Education Coach, HONG KONG

The purpose of the Grow vs. Status Quo power tool is to assist the client in repositioning themselves. They’re probably stuck in an ineffective state of thinking, i.e., the fixed mindset. If they can effectively get out of this status quo and get into a place where growth is conceivable, there may be some type of success (hence, a positive experience). This is likely to be difficult for learners because these limiting beliefs are often very ingrained. Adults, for example, are frantic to explain to me why they are poor at arithmetic despite not having studied it in decades.

DTE Life Coaching Model Geni Cobb

A Coaching Model By Geni Cobb
Life Coach, UNITED STATES

How did we come to be as a human society? We breathe 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are alive, going to school and passing numerous classes that we may or may not use in the future, working long hours in areas that may or may not fulfill us, caring for others because it may be our moral obligation, doing insignificant things to pass the time, making decisions that may or may not be beneficial to us in the long run, and imagining thoughts that do not exist. These are only a few examples of what all people face on a regular basis. DARE TO EXIST (DTE) coaching model intended for teens and young adults who are going through educational transitions.

Life Coaching for Adolescent Students

Adolescent Students Geni Cobb_Coaching_Research_Paper

A Research Paper By Geni Cobb
Life Coach, UNITED STATES

When we think of coaching Adolescent Students, we probably think of coaching in any sport, with the exception of one that has become more well-known in recent years: life coaching. It has evolved into a more important approach that allows students to work in all aspects of their lives, overcome obstacles, and achieve the outcomes they want. Right now, the world is going through a pandemic that has devastated families and left children in a state of panic. On top of this tragedy, some students had no choice but to stay at home for a full year and conduct online learning, while others had no choice but to go to school with mounting covid numbers, and some had a hybrid model.

Working with students can be very satisfying, but it also has its downsides. Breaking habits and behaviors can be difficult, but not impossible. Students have the ability to work towards a more “Growth Mindset vs. Limiting Beliefs” positive mindset known as a growth mindset and work to remove limiting beliefs that can prevent our young students from reaching their true potential.

Learn Why College Going Interventions Work

2021/07/23

Lindsey Sheets_Coaching_Research_Paper

A Research Paper By Lindsey Sheets
Education Coach, UNITED STATES

For this research paper, I decided to interview Bruce Sacerdote, an economist from Dartmouth. His paper, written with Scott Carrell, is titled Why Do College-Going Interventions Work? and focuses on “college-going interventions.” Though this isn’t what I call it, this is essentially what my coaching is as a Student Empowerment Coach.
