Clients are Looking for Certified Coaches

'A large majority of coach practitioners and managers/leaders using coaching skills agreed that individuals or organizations using coaching expect their coaches to be certified or credentialed.' ICF Global Coaching Study (2016)

ICA started out with a pilot group of 20 students (back in 2000)  and a vision to create a global coaching community, with a certified coach in every city. Fast forward to today, and we now host a vibrant and diverse community of over 5000 coaches living in 92 different countries around the world.  We've created an online training experience that is deeper and more meaningful than a traditional classroom, where students learn via a downloadable curriculum, forum participation and live teleclasses. A training model to fit you as an individual.

17 plus years of ICF Accreditation speaks for our Industry credibility...

International Coach Academy (ICA) has been ICF accredited since 2001.  We chose to accredit with the ICF over local based system (RTO & Cert IV) or other global alternatives (IAC, WABC) for very specific reasons:

  1. The ICF continue to be the most established peak body in coaching worldwide, with 25,000 coaches and chapters in many countries around the world
  2. Coaching is a global profession. Provided they speak the same language, coaches can coach locally or globally.

For you as a student, this means that our training has underdone rigorous external scrutiny and evaluation by the ICF and that our training complies as follows:

1. Core Coach Training mapped across ICF competencies
2. Coach Development includes Mentor, Observed and Supervised Coaching
3. Portfolio Development to identify you as a coach
4. Peer Coaching where you get to practice being a coach and a client
5. Assessment designed to celebrate and showcase your achievements and identify you as a coach with your own niche and unique model
6. Global Application.  When you graduate from ICA you will have the skills to coach anyone, anywhere in the world.

Not all coaches need a credential, but it's vital that you are certified.  Clients are looking for someone who not just calls themselves a coach, but who has demonstrated and been certified as having the required skills, knowledge and expertise.

A Connected Community of Coaches

When coaches graduate from an ICA Coach Training Program they graduate as a unique and powerful coach with their own unique coach portfolio.  This includes a coaching model that showcases who they will be as a coach, and how they will coach as well as a power tool or perspective change and a thought leadership article / research paper.  They leave with rich peer networks and lifelong friendships that span the world.

An 'All Inclusive' Learning Experience

Online Learnsite, Live Teleclasses, Peer Coaching, Community Forum...

At ICA the term all inclusive means - no hidden costs, no unexpected certification hurdles,  and full access to our coaching community. A diverse and connected community of coaches who will warmly welcome you to our community.

All learning is delivered via a blend of LIVE teleclasses, forum discussion and self reflection with many opportunities to coach, and be coached.   It's up to you how many or few classes they take each week.  The schedules have been timed to allow for self paced study, where the study schedule fits with your lifestyle and not the other way around. The learning process is as follows

1. Download and read the course module
2. Dial into a teleclass (facilitated by an ICA Trainer)
3. Post reflections on the forum

Our Advanced Coach Training Program is a 150 hr ACTP and is for those who know they want to be a Certified Coach, who want to pursue an ICF credential and who plan to set up their own coaching business or practice coaching in a corporate setting.  But, not everyone needs this level of training or wants to start at the top. So, we've designed our programs so that they pathway into each other and you can upgrade and progress until you reach your desired level of expertise or certification.

  • Coaching Theory, Tools and Knowledge

This program area covers core coach training skills and knowledge and provides an overview of the various coaching philosophies and models that influence coaching. You will learn what coaching is, and more importantly, what it isn't.

  • Coaching Practicum

It's vital that anyone who practices coaching in a professional setting has had the opportunity to coach with mentor feedback. For this reason the ICF require that students complete Mentor Coaching before applying for an ICF credential. At ICA, your programs include either Peer Coaching, Coaching Labs, Observed Coaching, or Mentor Coaching. These are an important consideration when selecting which program is best for your plans for coaching.

  • Coaching Portfolio

One of the things that we focus on at ICA is helping you to create your own unique coaching identity. This showcases who you will be as a coach, and includes points of differentation such as your coaching model, niche, business model etc.

ICA's Coach Training is ICF Accredited with Certification and Credential Pathways
