Research Paper By Viya Chen
(Visionary Leadership and Business Coach, SINGAPORE)
The premise of this paper is to investigate the empowerment of visionary, which creates the courage to journey down the path of creating the changes. The use of visualization in leadership coaching inspires and creates the positive energy to lead clients’ business, career, life and wealth decisions, while feeling full of passion and excitement about the opportunity ahead.
Most of our innate talents were untapped. We tend to devote more time to fixing our shortcomings instead of developing our strengths. People have more potential for growing when we invest energy in developing our strengths instead of correcting our deficiencies. The author has developed the Visionary Coaching methodology and spent 100 hours on coaching business leaders, managers, and entrepreneurs working in the Asia Pacific region. The best way to tap the potential of people is to lead them to the unique space where their strengths and their passion match the description of their goals.
Several popular neuroscience studies suggest a direct association between value, belief and performance. The belief is when individuals see their best self, will therefore begin to change their inner image. The coach will also support to illustrate the vision of changes. The purpose of this Visionary Coaching study is to test the hypotheses and explore the methodology to unleash the positive energy and inspire clients to focus on maximizing their strengths, leading their goals and visualizing their future map to make their dreams come true.
NAVIGATING THE SHIFT TO VISIONARY
The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift
VISION is an intuitive image of our desired future you seek to create. Creativity is often defined as the ability to bring into existence new possibilities. Francis P. Cholle wrote in his book
Why the best decisions balance reason and instinct,
he said, Creativity is the basis for
disruptive innovation and continuous re-invention (p. 19).
When a coach supports a client to navigate between the shifts from present to their VISIONARY future, it allows clients to visualize where they want go, and what they will be like when reaching their goal. The richer in detail and the visualized image, the goal will become more compelling. Tamara Lowe wrote in her book “Get Motivated” (2009):
Visionaries are persistent, energetic and confident. Creative thinkers who have the ability to craft a vision and get other excited about it … this picture should be so vivid that seeing it in your imagination energizes you right now. Visualize the end at the beginning. (p. 222)
This paper investigates how coaching utilizes visualization skills, including meditation, playing games and bird view exercises to help clients envision their pathway, ultimate goals as well as vision. Four hypotheses relating to inspiration and futurity have been developed and tested:
H1: Knowing one’s best self is the starting point to feel empowered to explore possibilities.
When people feel empowered by their strengths, they will have the courage to step out their comfort zone to embrace the future changes.
H2: Core values are the essential element in building a Life Plan, which is correlated with the motivation of making changes.
The core values spell out who you are, which are the guiding principles to define the purpose of life and form your vision.
H3: Visualization and metaphor will generate positive psychology, which can be created by playing game or vision tools.
The field of neuroscience demonstrates the power of emotional intelligence, optimism, and engagement factors, which create a healthy respect for the power of the future.
H4: Brain, mind and gut alignment provides the resilience we need for making crucial changes.
Synergizing right brain’s imaginary creativity, left-brain’s logical thinking, listening to your heart and following your gut will cultivate the process of fulfilling your vision.
VISIONARY COACHING METHODOLOGY
This visionary and empowering strengths program starts from Brain Generic Decoding Engineering (BGDE) to analysis clients’ multiple intelligences, learning styles and their spiritual characters. After potential consultation, the coach initiates the 3 coaching sessions to explore clients’ potentials by acknowledging and empathizing their uniqueness. The coach uses visualization skills, meditation, Lego bricks play and bird view exercises to transform clients’ inner gifts into recognized strengths. The coach has investigated the shift from visualizing best self, opening up possibilities, igniting the passion of vision and envisioning pathways of leading up to the future.
BRAIN FUNCTION AND MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES
Our human brains are responsible for thinking, kinesthesia, auditory and visual features, which can be divided into 2 segments, the left and the right brain, with 10 sections depending on the brain function. Different arrangements upon these instinctive abilities will illustrate that you have gained different superior fields from others, which will be our strengths.
