The Strengths of the HSP
The positive side of the HSP has been described by the Polish psychiatrist Dabrowski in his famous ‘Theory of Positive Disintegration’. He says that this over-excitability is a higher developmental potential. This means HSPs are gifted with a higher development potential than most other people.
The strengths of an HSP are that they are:
HSPs can empathetically enter into the minds and the inner worlds of others, and feel what they might be feeling. This makes them remarkably perceptive, and insightful about the thoughts, emotions, needs and motivations of people. They make wonderful healers, counselors, coaches, guides, human resource development personnel, care givers and so on.
HSPs are naturally gifted and creative. Their souls are feeling, sensing and receiving so many touches and impressions of the world, and they are doing so, intensely. With this intensity goes the need to express all this and give it form through words, pictures, sounds or ideas. Most artists, writers, poets, inventors and musicians are HSPs.
HSPs are usually very intuitive people. This makes them insightful about processes of individuals, systems and society. They are keen able to sense and discern patterns, trends and potential, where others may not. Their highly developed intuition makes them inspired and aware and spiritually highly evolved. They are the ‘old souls’ of the population. If they are able to persist in their own growth and evolution they are capable of inspiring others to their own inner potential and spiritual destiny.
