Introduction to Case Study

This case study is about a person who, having lived a lonely and uncertain life, explores within her the potential of a people’s person. This is a journey of self awareness and self discovery of the unlimited potential of change within herself.

Client Background

Renuka is a typical Indian Middle Class family girl of a metropolitan city. Being a single child she has received all the attention from her parents. All through her 24 years of her life she has enjoyed undivided attention from her parents. Renuka’s only focus during the academic journey was “Distinction”. This attitude of meritocracy helped her to be the top achiever throughout her career. She was a darling of her parents, teachers and entire family. But at the same time due to all this background she never felt the need to socialize. Establishing relationships and developing them was never on her agenda then.

As she completed her Secondary School, she entered a new world….”College”. However, here she found herself not so “Special”. She was just like a lot of students. There were fellow students who scored marks much more than what she scored.

Renuka the “Centre of attraction” from teachers and school friends stopped getting any attention. She felt being neglected. In order to recover from this feeling, she took a little half hearted initiative to make friends to find no or weak response from others. She started facing challenges even to start a conversation, carry on the same and sometimes she used to feel so shy that she could not even carry on the dialogue..The result was that her friends gave her feedback which she found really hurtful and so she just gave up on such friendships. She was slowly left with no friends and no support in college.
