A Coaching Power Tool Created by Irma Okropiridze
(Transformational Coach, UNITED STATES)

Activity metaphorically is explained through my article (as below) – Re-assemble your kaleidoscope.

Re- assemble your Kaleidoscope

One of our childhood memory is kaleidoscope, that we used to have as a toy-tube. Tube  isan optical instrument that while rotation used to produce a succession of symmetrical designs by means of mirrors reflecting the constantly changing patterns made by small objects, such as beads or bits of coloured glass, at one end of the tube.

When we turn left or right the kaleidoscope changes shapes, composition, colors and feelings.

Kids are always looking in kaleidoscope, rotating it to different sides and creating amazing shapes.

What makes us so happy when we turn around kaleidoscope? Maybe changes we see?

The action we take when playing with kaleidoscope is only one- we make a turn. If we do not take action nothing changes.

Rotating kaleidoscope, let’s compare with our wheel of life, we get amazing surprises depending on the way we rotate it, bright or grey colors. Successes and failures… Closing one chapter and opening new… Kaleidoscope of new possibilities…

Rotate your kaleidoscope today, re-assemble figures, change perspectives and move on to bright colors and amazing silhouettes! Remember always your favourite kaleidoscope. Take actions today and feel the future.

Situation

Matilda is working in corporate business for a long time,  during past 2 years is constantly feeling  low-energy, is disengaged at work, her self-esteem is going down.

Desired outcome of coaching session: She wants to find ways to overcome the situation, become again active, energized and happy.

Coaching application

Kaleidoscope methaphoric explanation will be used to show differences which every move we make in kaleidoscope, every change can happen in life if we want changes and overcome nutshell.

Through coaching sessioncoacheemay go through visualization process , though such questions:

  1. Recall situation when you were happy and confident, describe  this picture
  2. Make colours bright and sharp, enlarge picture
  3. Now imagine, you look like in kaleidoscope and go to the future, where you see yourself  , as a continuation of movie , where you are happy , energized, smiling, confident, what do you see?
  4. How you see yourself, what colours, shapes, surroundings and etc.

Through that exercise Matilda will set future Matilda’s perspectives, and decide that she want to start actions in order to become that Matilda as in visionary exercise.

Commitment towards actions  is to be achieved.

Matilda through questions  such as what can be done , which actions undertaken, what resources she has, and setting own time frames, session by session , will  overcome passive point of view on life  (her only emotion was fear or no emotion) to actions full perspective ( new emotions come to her – happy, engaged, energized).   By setting committed actions and following them Matilda will become involved in own game,  that changes her perspectives and feelings.
