A Coaching Power Tool created by Gayatri Krishnamurthy
(Executive Coaching, INDIA)
This workbook is intended to be a tool to help the coach work in a structured way during complete coaching process. The whole work book and the questions are based on 6Ws – Who, What, Why, When, Where and hoW . For a coaching process to succeed the questions defined at each stage need to be answered by the coach as well as the client.
While there may be a good tacit understanding, the entire coaching process is process driven rather than memory dependent.
This is a useful tool for me to structure and manage a coaching engagement from start to finish. It will help in picking up the threads in event of fresh contract with the same Client or re-start after long gap would be easy if such record is available to go through beforehand. It is imperative that the coach at the end of each session needs to answer the two basic questions:
- Has the client made progress?
- Is there value to the client in continuing with the process?
The cue cards are designed to answer the questions by documenting entire coaching cycle and consist of:
- Setting up the sessions (Cue card on Page 2)
- Set of questions that need to be answered by the coach and the client as they go through the coaching sessions to complete each coaching life cycle (page 3 and 4)
- Coach’s session preparation and end of session format (page 5)
- Client’s Notes Sheet and Client’s Action Tracker (Page 6 )
- Case summary sheet (page 7)
Though the documentation looks enormous, not all the cue cards have to be filled in at one time. These are meant both as reference and documentation formats.
