  • Engagement

Before the start of the whole coaching session we will need to have some icebreaker / icebreaker games the purpose of icebreaker is to ease the tension, getting know of each other’s, to get people more engaged in the process. Next we will need to thank the client for allowing us to be his/her coach for that session and we will need to inform the client that coaching is not consultancy, mentoring and therapy. It is a partnership and client will decide what he/she want to discuss. And the coaching session is a confidential space that belong to the client. As a coach we are there to give them our fullest support. Always get the permission from client if coaches want to write or record anything down. Once engagement is done, coaches will need to set the ground rule and mindset right. If the client agree with the coaches, coaches will get the client to sign a coaching agreement to protect both parties.

Icebreaker

What is your Dream / Goals (write down, communication)

To allow client to share their goals and dream and slowly build the rapport in between, and from the communication coaches are able to know more about the client and slowly build the confidential space given to client.

Feeling Cards

Give the client a deck of cards, and ask them to explain why they choose the cards and express in their feeling.

Exuberant

My personal belief is that all the start of the coaching session should be exuberant, where client are ready to embark on a new journey. It is a very adventurous journey as the whole session will create a lots of expression, exploration, exposure, experience, enforce, exceeded and excellence. The whole session will be full of energy, excitement and cheerfulness, therefore it will be a fun, self-reflection and exploration journey where coach will use coaching to bring the client to the next level of what they want to be.

Express

Express freely is important for the client, and he/she is able to express anything they wanted in the coaching session. Therefore for every start of the coaching session coaches will need to ask the client for an objective/outcome or what they want to achieve for the day. It can be a repeated objective/outcome but end of the session coaches will need to nail it down and narrow it down for the client, as client will need to explore and reflect on themselves. Coaches will need to use powerful questioning to let client to express and aware of their current situation, and the future situation that they are able to achieve.

Exploration

Once the objective/outcome have been set the whole coaching session begin, It an exploration and reflection session for each and individual client. And using coaching to bring them toward another grater height. 90% of the time the client will be doing the talking and by talking the coaches will required to practice active listening, as coaches we are not allow to give any advice, guidance, judgement and others towards the client objective/outcome or in any other areas. But coaches are allow to change their thinking caps to allow client to better understand the whole situation. Coaches lead client to achieve greater height by using powerful questioning and active listening and effectively. If coaches don’t implement the important of active listening and effectively, coaches will tent to miss out important pointer that the client have mention. The more coaches’ listen, the more coach understand and the more masterful coaching becomes.

Exposure

Once exploration is done, there are lots of exposure on lots of possibility. This is the part where client, will need to think or even reflect on the situation or possible/possibility to give themselves to an answer. My point of view is that both parties should have an open mindset, no judgmental and narrow thinking. Because some client will tent to escape question or issue that they have been expose too, and need to overcome in order to achieve the objective. Coaches support is very important and the powerful questioning will allow client to expose to more situation or possible/possibility, to reach or achieve the client objective.

Experience

Exposure will then lead or convert to experience. This is due to personal belief that all human been learn through explore to expose, expose to experience gain, experience gain can contribute to a lots of factor. For example gaining experience in skills, knowledge and attitude, sometimes encounter or undergo events or occurrence, practical contact and or observation will gain experience too.

Enforce

Once experience or self-reflection been make through that session, coaches will need to check with the client on how they measure the success of the outcome. Coaches are require to use powerful questioning to ask the client to come out with their measure of the success of the outcome, the outcome will be their action plan to follow up in order to achieve success. The action plan must be a realistic, usually coaches will use the SMART Goal for action plan.

Which compromise of

S – Specify
M – Measurable
A – Attainable/Achievable
R – Realistic and
T – Time

Lastly coach will summary the session and ask if client need any type of support in between till the next coaching session.
