Coaching Model: My Success

2012/06/05

A Coaching Model Created by Sylvia Gautier
(Life and Wellness Coach, UK)

My success model follows a proactive approach to life. By taking action, anticipating, planning, being creative and being aware, you can create the life you really want.

Discovery

Proactivity starts with a focus on the present moment. I will assess where the clients are now, what they want to achieve, what they have done so far to achieve it, and most importantly why they want to achieve that goal.

I will acknowledge the clients’ choice to be coached will show them that it is the first step towards a better life. We will discuss their goal in detail in order to make it achievable. The clients will also learn more about the benefits of changing their lives for the better and what their future will look like if they choose to go forward and enter the coaching relationship. Finally I will check with them how committed they are and if they are ready to take action, in a proactive way.

Exploration

If you can dream it, you can do it. Walt Disney

The world around us is full of fantastic opportunities. Proactive people have the ability to see them and know how to seize them in order to progress towards their goals.

Clients will first focus on what is holding them back, about identifying underlying beliefs and discovering what their options are. They will gain from having different perspectives of their current situation and learn how to reassess your plan every step of the way, in order to benefit from new opportunities. This exploration step is mainly about gaining awareness of the opportunities that exist, of what the world has to offer. They will develop an open-mind about what is really possible, about the choices they have and will be encouraged to aim high. They will rediscover themselves and realize they have limitless abilities. Finally they will think about what they really want and need, what is possible/ what is not and do some research about it.

Action

Action is the foundational key to all success. Pablo Picasso

Action is at the core of a proactive life. It is the step that brings everything together: it will increase their motivation, their self-esteem, their confidence and move them closer to their goals.

We will design a plan with small steps to accomplish. The clients will have clarity about what to do to achieve their goal and how to do it. In addition to support, acknowledgment is key in this part as clients need to be aware of their progress. Clients will discover more about who they are, what their strengths are and what they are capable of. A lot of energy is created at that point that leads to increased motivation and confidence and less doubts and fears. The clients feel empowered and can keep going until the goal is achieved. They realise that everything is truly possible.

Success

Success will be the outcome of the journey. Clients won’t just achieve their personal goals, they will also feel empowered and successful. This final step is about celebration and awareness on the efforts that they have made and what they have accomplished. Clients will also focus on feelings: how they feel now as compared to how they left at the start of the coaching process and what they have really gained from it. Clients will check if adjustments need to be made to that they are satisfied with where they are at. Finally it is also maintaining the changes that have occurred and checking that structures are in place so that the changes are long-term ones.
