Coaching Model: METTA

2020/05/13

A Coaching Model Created by Silvia Piaia
(Life and Parenting Coach, ITALY)

We will travel together on the train to Hogwarts, a magical train that will take us inside the castle in search of your personal Room of Requirements.

If you don’t know the magical world of Harry Potter, don’t worry, this isn’t about Harry Potter or me, it’s all about you.

But, what is the Room of Requirements? It is a secret room within Hogwarts Castle, that only appears when a person is in great need of it. Let me explain it to you with the words of Dobby, the elf which Harry Potter set free [src]: “It is a room that a person can only enter when they have real need of it. Sometimes it is there, and sometimes it is not, but when it appears, it is always equipped for the seeker’s needs”. For some people this room can take even the form of a Room of Hidden Things, so be prepared to find hidden treasures that you might have forgotten or even didn’t know about yourself. And what will my role be in this journey? I will support you in seeking your personal Room of Requirements through METTA.

Mettā in Pali means benevolence, loving-kindness, friendliness, goodwill, and active interest in others and is often practiced in Theravada Buddhism as ‘compassionate meditation’. In this meditation, we start by projecting Metta first to ourselves and then expand it to others (first to strangers, then neutral people, moving on to loved ones such as friends and family and culminating by sending love to a person we would call an enemy).

Just as in Metta meditation, we will address your search by projecting benevolence, loving-kindness, friendliness, goodwill, and active interest towards yourself and your needs first.

I will support you in finding your individual motivation (goal) by empathetically and authentically reaching your personal path, while active listening to your heart. Thus, achieving your goal with honesty, freedom, and vulnerability, without interference, and by accepting whatever emerges and taking action here and now.

After all, we are all magical beings in one way or another. So, what do you think? Ready to enter your personal magic world?
