Coaching Model: The Scale

A Coaching Model Created by Samantha Castro
(Transformational Coach, THAILAND)

The representation of my coaching model as a Scale has two purposes.

First, to show all the elements a person needs to consider during a coaching relationship. The GOAL is at the top because it represents the highest level of achievement or the most important part of the scale. The CURRENT SITUATION is the link between all the other elements. The PLATES at both sides of our current situation, connecting at the current situation and finally, the goal, represents the connection between the strengths, beliefs and values we already possess and the new awareness to be acquired during the coaching process. A good balance between both plates will help us reach the goal. Finally, the supportive systems at the BASE of the scale are the stepping stones that sustain and will encourage all of the above. During a successful coaching relationship, the coach will help the client build strong structures in order to obtain long lasting results.

The second purpose is the representation of the person being coached. The scale also evokes a person standing. At the begging of the coaching conversation, the client has the GOAL in his MIND, while the CURRENT SITUATION sits at the HEART OR CENTER of their reality. In each HAND our clients juggle and try to balance their existing beliefs, values and strengths while at the same time awakening to self-awareness and new strategies during the coaching conversations. In order to succeed, supportive systems will be the SOLID GROUND that will help them raise and continue their journey towards their goal.

In summary, besides showing the process to be followed during a coaching relationship, my model also considers the important elements a person poses and that will be the drivers towards achieving their goals.
