Core Focus areas- Coach
Coaching has an enormously important role in the building and sustaining great organizations, extraordinary workplaces and in the lives of people at any place. People who want to accomplish great things often get stuck along the way. Coaching helps people get un-stuck. An example of this is that while many leaders, executives, and managers in organizations seem to “know” intuitively what they need to do to move forward, few of them actually follow through because they’re stuck in some way. Coaching helps people focus on the things that are contributing to their being stuck, and then move beyond them.
Coaching is successful when coach can integrate some of core coaching competencies expected in this model and their approach when working with clients.
They will also support coach in calibrating the level of alignment between the coach-specific training expected and the training you have experienced. At early stages of Retrospect & Narrate it is important coach sets the foundation. He communicates the coaching ethics of confidentiality and standards that will apply. Coach will explain clearly distinctions between coaching, consulting, psychotherapy and other support professions. In this stage they will establish an agreement to work together. In next stages, of Self-discover & Interact, coach establishes a relationship with the client to create a safe, supportive environment that produces ongoing mutual respect and trust. Coach is fully conscious and shares a spontaneous relationship, which is open, flexible and confident. In all stages, active listening plays a key role. One of the key aspects is to allow the client to talk about the situation without judgment or attachment in order to move on to next steps. Another aspect is exploring the clients with powerful questions that reveal the information needed for maximum benefit to the coaching relationship and the client. Ask question to evoke discovery, insight, commitment or action. Coach should be able communicate effectively during coaching sessions, and to use language that has the greatest positive impact on the client. During Delight & Enlighten stage, the coach starts facilitating the awareness the client is attaining. Coach should be able to integrate and accurately evaluate multiple sources of information and to make interpretations that help the client to gain awareness and thereby achieve agreed-upon results. Coach should be able to design actions with client. Planning & setting goals for the client for an effective coaching plan. Coach should be able to hold attention on the important matters of the client and allow the client to take action.
