Coaching Model: The Wave

2012/12/07

A Coaching Model Created by Ndeye Seck Sanchez
(Professional Coach, SENEGAL)

The Wave Coaching Model symbolizes the process I use with my clients. It includes three phases as detailed below. To empower clients to be what they aspire to be.

  • The birth: discovering and exploring the wave

During this phase, I create a space of trust for my clients as we both enter the coaching relationship. This trust is the foundation of this relationship and is crucial to its success. I also accompany my clients on their journey towards great self'-awareness, i.e. to discover their true self, values, beliefs, strengths, UACs, etc. Rich of a strong sense of who they are, they are empowered to define a clearer vision for their life and to set specific objectives.

  • Moving forward with the wave: rising with the wave

Now that the clients have set clear objectives, during this phase I support them to draw an action plan that will enable them to reach these objectives. I motive them to expand their horizon during this exercise in order to encourage them to enlarge their comfort zone and thus, to live a more rewarding life. Throughout the implementation of this action plan, I serve as their accountability partner to hold their vision until they are successful in reaching their goal. When they face obstacles, I act as their cheerleader to enable them to press forward.

  • The foam: fulfilling one's objectives

This phase truly represents the fulfillment, joy and serenity of having achieved one's objectives. I endeavor to keep my clients in a continuous transformative journey as they set new objectives for themselves. If they wish to do so, together we will enter another wave. Otherwise, I trust that the Wave Coaching Model would have provided them with the tools to do so on their own.

Throughout this process, I use various coaching tools such as powerful questions, attentive listening, mirroring, acknowledging and mirroring. I also encourage my clients to celebrate all their little victories in order for their journey to be filled with joy and pride.

Coaching Process

In conclusion, the cycle of the wave perfectly illustrates my coaching methodology. It also shows clients that they have the power to decide how they wish to approach each wave in order to improve their lives.
