Coaching Model: The BASE Colosseum

2019/04/26

A Coaching Model Created by Minpreet Jongkees
(Health Coach, AUSTRALIA)

Health Coaching Model Minpreet Jongkees

The BASE Model is designed around a four-pillar colosseum (building), in the arena (niche) of Ultimate Health and Performance.

The foundation layer is the WHO. It is important to explore this layer in depth in order to make a strong foundation layer for the rest of the Colosseum.  Who is the Client?  What are their values and beliefs?  Are their goals aligned with who they are? What underlying beliefs are supporting them and what is getting in the way?

The roof is the WHAT. The arena is Ultimate Health and Performance.  Exploring WHAT that is and means for the Client is essential in them gaining clarity in which direction they are going.  What are their goals? What is motivating them? What does success look like to them? How will they know when they have reached their goal?  When would they like to achieve these goals by?  How will they celebrate when they get there?  Gaining a clear picture of the WHAT creates a deeper meaning and drive toward achieving their goals.

Often when Health goals are attained, clients find a new surge of energy to set out and achieve new and old goals that they previously thought unattainable for them, and this is where the Performance arena is entered.

What are the Ultimate Health and Performance Goals? The Client may find they want to push the height of their colosseum higher, push their limits and find their new optimal health and performance height.  If we were to look at a 3D picture of a colosseum, you’ll see it has no roof centre, therefore the sky’s the limit, ultimate health and performance knows no bounds and has no limits.

The four BASE pillars of the Colosseum stand for B-be. A-act. S-sleep. E-eat.

Tapping into my previous life experience and knowledge (Degree in Health Science, and professional Athlete) and backed by further research, these 4 pillars are crucial in supporting Ultimate Health and Performance.

BE: Being Mindful. Mindfulness creates self-awareness and increases clarity and focus.

ACT: Actively Playful. Connecting Activity with positive emotions = Play. Reconnecting with your inner child.

SLEEP: Rest and Recovery. Physical and Mental rest and recovery to live an ultimate life.

EAT: Nutrition and hydration support your body in its basic form and function.

Pillars are crucial in holding up the Colosseum. They need to be of equal height and thickness in order to support the arena inside.  If one is taller or shorter than another, it becomes unstable, the BASE is the same.  Our BASE needs to be solid and aligned in order to support a life of ultimate health and performance.  Through the process of building these pillars, just like the Colosseum, your BASE will be subject to obstacles, lack of resources and support.  However with coaching support by your side, you will overcome and also foresee these, and ultimately your “BASE Colosseum” will rise and host glorious wins that will manage to stand the test of time.
