Coaching Model: The VISION

2020/03/05

A Coaching Model Created by Lori Peterson
(Business Coach, UNITED STATES)

Who am I as a COACH:

Hi, I’m Lori Coda-Peterson, and I operate daily with the belief that there is no nobler an occupation than in helping someone realize their most extraordinary vision. With 22 years of experience in business coaching, sales training, and leadership development, I am a highly intuitive coach who inspires others to grow and achieve. I champion others to become the leader who people want to follow, instead of being the manager people are expected to follow. I’m known for being focused, strategic, hard-working, empathetic and honest. I am a catalyst for passion, vision, and action. My clients are top performers, motivated leaders and powerful managers who desire their next level of “extraordinary” in their professional and personal lives.

My Ideal Client:

One of the major challenges for any leader or business owner is having a reliable confidant with whom they can share their strengths, struggles, and vision for their organization. The higher the stakes, the greater the competition, and sometimes, the greater the political games. As a consequence, many leaders become isolated. The result is a loss of perspective, which can make you lose sight of your vision.

Additionally and counter-intuitively, I know first hand how leaders can appear to have it all together. But really, we know top performers run towards fear every single day. Leaders love living life on their edge. If this resonates with you, I would be honored to be your trusted confidant, coach, and sounding board – at all levels of success.

The VISION Model:

This model was designed to illustrate the many layers of the coach and client relationship at Codavision, LLC. We pride ourselves on coaching clients through insight-small or large-and celebrating the unique gifts of each client.

The word Vision is defined as: ‘The ability to think about or plan the future with imagination and wisdom’. This is our core tenet at Codavision, by which all decisions are made, and all clients are encouraged to move toward.

This model uses each of the letters in the word to showcase not only how we coach and support our clients, but how the client is whole and completely capable of their unique vision and transformation. I will use this tool primarily to guide, educate and inspire prospective clients, and existing clients, about the world of professional coaching.

VISION

Vision: The definition of vision: The ability to think about or plan the future with imagination and wisdom. This is where we start. The VISION that pulls you. Steve Jobs said, “If you are working on something that you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed. The vision pulls you.”

At Codavision, we care about your BIG dream. And, we promise to hold it high up on a shelf to protect it, nurture it, and remind you of it-especially on days where you may have lost your vision. Additionally, we stand for your VISION, and visions change. We’re ready for that, as well. What is your VISION? What are you inspired to work toward today?

INSIGHT

Insight: Through trust and agreement, the client and coach embark together on a journey toward new insight. Insight can happen in a moment, or take a bit longer to reach. Every situation and every client is unique. We reach new awareness and new insight through impactful serving, space, and powerful questions. It is a mindset or insight, that creates transformation in life and business. We coach around insight because, in one moment, things look one way…but then there is a shift or insight from the client….and then things may look completely different.

STRENGTHS

Strengths: We believe that what you do naturally, and what you spend time practicing and honing, gives you the greatest joy and satisfaction in your life. We encourage all clients to use the CliftonStrengths assessment to highlight their top five Strengths. Codavision and Coach Lori are certified by Gallup and can deploy impactful tools to create a strong foundation for each client. When we do more of what we are already good at, we become exponentially more productive. Life and work become more enjoyable and fun!

INITIATE

Initiate: This is the single most important part of the VISION coaching model. Without client initiative, the coaching relationship is powerless. We believe the client does the work, the client chooses the outcome, and the client measures the success of the coach/client relationship. The client comes to coaching as a “Hell YES!” or we don’t coach. The coach creates the space for insight and awareness, and the client strengthens their “Power of Choice” muscle because they are willing and ready to learn.

OBSERVATION

Observation: Once the client is actively engaged, the coach meets the client halfway with curiosity and exploration. The coach is like an empty bowl, waiting and listening intently for what shows up for the client. The coach listens for what is being said, and what is not being said. The coach reflects back to the client’s relevant information in the client’s own language for learning and awareness. At Codavision, we believe that observation and acknowledgment are a vital part of coaching leaders and entrepreneurs. Oftentimes it gets lonely at the top, and acknowledgment from observation can make all the difference.

NOW

Now: This is why we coach. We, coach, to help top-performers and leaders move forward today. Results NOW. We don’t get stuck in the past and we challenge limiting beliefs. Clients create action items that support desired outcomes. We guide our clients to create empowered structures and to then drive that action. We ask, “What could get in the way of that intention today?” or “What is perfect about this situation NOW?” We consider that now is what we have…using goals as a place to come from, not only moving toward. How would we act NOW if we were already living in our desired outcome? We clarify with our clients what they really want so that the goals are deeply connected to who they are NOW and where they want to be.
