Coaching Model: The Adaptable

2016/05/18

A Coaching Model Created by Lindsay Van Niekerk
(Productivity Coach, AUSTRALIA)

Productivity Coaching Model Lindsay Van NiekerkMy model takes a broad and adaptable approach that allows me to be most effective for each client and his or her needs. Adaptable means I respond to the agenda the client brings, and then artfully apply my skills to that agenda. Adaptable also means a willingness to hand over control to the client and put them in the driving seat. The model is attuned to drawing out the best in the client for the purposes of utilising his or her own resources. I also want the model to give the client permission to go beyond the first thing that comes to mind, to take risks without fear or judgement. While the client controls the session I will give it purpose, keeping it on track to maximise the benefit.

The model follows these steps:

Prepare: The coach mentally prepares before the session begins
Explore: The territory the client wants to explore
Qualify & Quantify: What is it the client wants to change?
Resolve: Set the goals and when and how they will be acted upon
Debrief: Wrap up the session and confirm next session if required
