The concept of coaching has been around for as long as the human race itself. Right from the earliest days the older or more skilled taught the young how to hunt, cook & paint pictures on cave walls just to be useful and effective members of their tribes or communities in general. This type of practical, skill-related coaching still exists in most societies to this day. However, a more sophisticated form of coaching, aimed at inspiring greater understanding or awareness towards building enriching life experiences & in achieving our goals is fast occupying an integral space in our lives.
Despite the existence of several tried and tested coaching models, I have often observed that coaches around the world customize their own coaching models based on their signature styles.
This not only helps the coaches leverage upon their own strengths but also helps them to transmit their confidence, positivity, conviction & contagious energies while enabling the client unleash their fullest potential.
Based on the single biggest foundation of TRUST, I have been using a simple coaching model that reflects my personality style best. This model not only helps me work with ease, but also helps me stay flexible, adaptable and open to change.
The four key components of the D.I.C.E. model when used appropriately help the coach – client relationship to be more meaningful, enriching and engaging thereby helping the client unleash their fullest potential and maximise their performance in various phases across their lives.
The D.I.C.E. model is iterative and it systemically builds a sense of purpose, creates a vision of the future, identifies the strengths of today & enables the implementation of actions towards achieving the desired results. The D.I.C.E. model allows for open dialogue, room for disagreement & respect for individual opinions & values.
It can be used Life as well as for Business / Executive coaching. It helps to work with ease in a seamless environment of trust & ensures confidentiality throughout all interactions be it either face to face interactions or via a virtual medium.
Since the entire D.I.C.E. model is based on the foundation of TRUST, it gives ample room for candid, honest and fearless feedback to each other. It aims at renewing & strengthening the client – coach partnership through appropriate TRUST building behaviours at each stage.
The client gets ample opportunity through reflection, contemplation & self-inquiry to understand his / her insights & intuitions, as they free wheel into a future filled with creativity & imagination on their own will.
