IMPACT – Inside-Out Approach

A Coaching Model By Kim LiPira, Business Coach, UNITED STATES

IMPACT An Inside-Out Approach to the Coaching Model

Presence is a state of awareness at the moment, characterized by the felt experience of timeless, connectedness, and the larger truth. Doug Silsbee

IMPACT an Inside-Out approach to the coaching model. This model is firmly rooted in my values and beliefs of what I have read and experienced from clients and in my own life. My studies of the work from Michael Singer author of The Untethered Soul, The Surrender Experiment also Eckhart Tolle author of The Power of NOW, and Doug Silsbee author of Presence-Based Coaching to name a few. This coaching model also holds to the core of what is being taught to us in the ICA /ICF manner with a laser focus on the importance of presence. Inner work based on Presence-Based Coaching is the foundational building block for the outer work, the results of what the client intends to achieve. This coaching model is intended to attract clients that are interested in the importance of their inner connection to themselves and how that presents itself to their outer world, in every conceivable way. That being said this model of coaching holds for relationship coaching, business coaching, wellness coaching, or whatever niche that is chosen. This approach provides the exploration for them to be more decisive, be mindful about what they are doing and why so that they can move in the right direction to achieve their highest and best self and life’s outcomes. Eckhart Tolle says it in the following way:

…if the steps you are going to take in the future, take up so much of your attention that they become more important to you than the step you are taking now then you completely miss the journey’s inner purpose, which has nothing to do with where you are going or what you are doing, but everything to do with how. It has nothing to do with the future but everything to do with the quality of your consciousness at this moment. …..Your outer journey may contain a million steps: your inner journey only has one step you are taking right now. As you become more deeply aware of this one step, you realize that it already contains within itself all the other steps as well as the destination.

T Transformation

The outside work. What have you discovered through your inner exploration that will move you closer to who, what, or where you what to be or change in your life? What will you do about it NOW?

Coaching qualities to bring to the coaching session.

  1. Preparing yourself to be present each time you start the coaching session. The holding of a present space for your client is setting the stage for them to come there with you. Trust and connectivity get their foundation here.
  2. Always meet your client where they are.
  3. Allow the client to Explore where they are NOW?
  4. Allow the client to Discover what is important to them NOW?
  5. Allow the client to Recognize what they value NOW?
  6. Allow the client to Realizewhat they want NOW?

This journey, using the power of presence, the place of here and Now can open up being true to yourself, knowing yourself at a deeper level, feeling your feelings, not being as distracted from all of life’s distractions. This state of presence makes decision-making easier, creates less anxiety, and allows the mind to open to the possibilities of transformation that can be made. Today it is so easy to be pulled away from the present moment. We have so much come at us. This is not perfection; this is practice with a desire to live your life on your terms. To move into a space that feels right for YOU.

The Components of the Impact Model

All the components of the IMPACT model can reveal the values, underlying beliefs, perspectives, and the lens through which the client is seeing themselves for any given situation or desired achievement. The Model follows the path of discovery of the client, who they are, what are they saying, what is motivating their desire, what is getting in the way of not achieving, recognizing, or acknowledging their goals. This presence, this awareness, brings mindfulness and realization to move forward towards their goals and aspirations. Enjoying a more balanced, joyful, positive life.
