Coaching Model: IEDA

2013/12/10

A Coaching Model created by Ian McLean
(Life Transformation Coaching, TRINIDAD and TOBAGO)

ian_mclean_ieda_coaching_model_figure1IEDA stands for Inquiry, Exploration, Self-Discovery, and Inspired Action. These represent the major parts of my coaching model. Each major part also has sub-parts that are listed in bullet points in the Coaching Model diagram above.

Inquiry

During the Inquiry phase we identify any doubts, fears, limited thinking, or underlying automatic commitments that may be present.

Exploration

In the Exploration phase we go deeper into areas that came up in the Inquiry stage.  This is done through identifying goals; reshaping patterns of thinking (re-framing); shifting one’s context or point of view about themselves (transforming identity). To support this Exploration I use powerful questions, listening, reflection, intuition, encouragement and support.

Self-Discovery

In Self-Discovery we uncover one’s life purpose and what that means for them. Mission statements are formulated. Road maps are chartered on how purpose can be aligned with one’s life and career. This self-discovery stage can lead to feelings of peace, completeness, and celebration.

Inspired Action

The client now feels Empowered to take Inspired Action. The action steps feel right. You feel energized and make progress quickly and effortlessly. You are aligned with the Universe.
