A Coaching Model Created by Ian Kain
(Executive Coach, CANADA)

The Coaching Model of the Achiever

Acknowledge – Intent – Design – Accomplish

Executive coaching model Ian KainThe Egyptians have captured and enslaved Aida, an Ethiopian princess. An Egyptian military commander, Radamès, struggles to choose between his love for her and his loyalty to the Pharaoh, a struggle between the mind and the heart. Radamès submit to his true heart desire Aida and thus has been taken into the lower floor of the temple and sealed up in a dark vault to die. As he hopes that Aida is in a safer place, he hears a sigh and then sees Aida. She has hidden herself in the vault in order to unite with Radamès and to complete her life journey with her true heart desire and love, rather than living without. After they recognized the fatal stone closed over the vault, Aida and Radamès both fully surrenders to each other and to their fate and peacefully transcends. They could only live and be complete when authentic and united with each other true heart love.

Aida is a beautiful transformative Opera Libretto that addresses the core issue of even postmodern society where being in the mind is safer more comfortable and yet causing many regrets and heaviness in life.  Contrary to conformism and comfort of everyday mainstream life, taking the challenge, engaging bravery to choose to live and to live your true heart desire is transformational, fulfilling and liberating regardless and nonattached to the outcome. Once living your true hearth desire a person gets peace of mind, joy to life, creativity, curiosity, complete fulfillment regardless nonattached to the outcome. A person living a true heart desire is fully aligned with the life purpose and this is where synchronicity or the miracle happen.  There is no final destination any more, transformation happen as we surrender to our heart and the endless adventures journey of life is ready to begin.

This coaching model follows principles to surface what is that client really want in their life, to acknowledge all achievements and to source strength and bravery from them.  Using various NLP techniques required or any other techniques appropriate to empower the client to step on their authentic heroic probability path. Some clients will initially need support with their work – intellectual job assignments[2] that are not aligned with their true heart desires and that is ok. The principle of this Coaching model is to find the purposeful authentic life desire sourced from the Heart, to source passion from it to complete the necessary tasks and to proceed in life with what matters the most to the Client.

The Acknowledgement of any achievement at the beginning of the coaching session allow the client to start a session on a positive note, regardless what have happened in the period between the sessions. It is also a wonderful time for accountability reflection. Accountability is an integral part of the session and the client decide how to address the accountability with them. It is central in this process to highlight any success, anything that worked well for the client and explore for the possibilities how it could work even better. It is also worth to explore what could or would the client want to do differently.

The intent part plays a stirring roll of the coaching session. Clients usually have a pile of overwhelming issues they want to deal with, and it is crucial for success of any coaching session to elicit the most important intent and direct the session toward its resolution. The most important intent is the one, that when achieved, everything else would become easier or unnecessary. It is the Client who defines the criteria need to be meet in order to recognize the intent have been achieved. As this is an integral part of the Coaching Model, also assist for quality and success rating at the end of the coaching session.

Using a short relaxation or guided meditation even if it is only 3 slow long deep breath, at this point, allows the clients to slow down their brain pace and to set them self into a more resourceful alpha brain state. This sort of activity calms the client down from any overwhelming feelings and activate more the right side of the brain, the creative and the imaginative part of the brain, where solutions beyond persons past experiences can be inspired.

The Design process is for the client the most creative part of the Coaching model and process. It is the part where all details of the desired outcome, goals or achievements are set. It is the core process to create, elicit, identify, reflect and test the Client’s purposeful authentic life desires. The Client must own the outcome and to want it wholehearted in order it to be a true purposeful authentic life desire or PAL-Desire.

This part of the Coaching process is also the opportunity to test the alignment of any work related assignments with the PAL-Desires and to find any possible parallels or connection between the two and source the passion and other strength to accomplish other work related tasks with success. It is also the time to find possibilities to reframe perceptions of intellectual work tasks to more favorable one or to reframe or redesign this tasks to be aligned or at least more aligned with the PAL-Desire and PAL[3] itself.

In this part of the coaching process SMART[4] is already applied to the Client’s dream, design, goal or a task. The coach stimulates the Client to be specific, assessable or quantifiable, action oriented, realistic & relevant and time limited or time based while building their design.

The Achievement part consist of addressing or establishing tactics, strategies and processes to support the Client to move from goal setting to goal achieving.   This is a stage where non-serving beliefs and fears, difficulties and distractions need to be addressed, by using various tools available to assist the Client to overcome any shortcomings or frustration. This allow the client to move on and ahead toward manifesting the design without potential setbacks, fear or procrastination and even if that happen, the client would have a strategy to overcome it.

In this part of the session it is crucial to support the Client in wanting the outcome while not being attached to it or its outcome. It is therefore vital to recognize and accept up front what will happen if the desired outcome of the design is not achieved on time or not achieved at all or need to be redesigned. There might be subjective or objective obstacles on the way.

In this part of the coaching process a reflection on habits, beliefs and values is performed. In order to support any action, the Design must be sourced on proper client’s toward values, supporting toward beliefs and supportive behavior. The client should be 100% positive and interested. This model assist the client to start working SMART not hard. Any deviation in any part of this structure can result in setbacks, procrastination and other challenges we want to avoid in order to assist the Client to become The ACHIEVER 100% owning their experience & PAL – Purposeful Authentic Life.

The ACHIEVER is a person who is: Alive, Creative, Humble, Inspired, Excited, Victorious, Eager and Responsible
