Coaching Model: Concrete

2014/09/15

A Coaching Model Created by Francis Sankey
(Transitional Coach, UNITED STATES)

As a coach, my goal and intention is to provide the abstract space for a concrete goal.  I plan to grant you a judgment-free space to allow you to explore the changes you want and need.  I will help you create powerful structures to assist you to your goal.  Together we will explore and inspect your underlying beliefs and values to see if your goals are in alignment.  We will work together, with me setting the foundation and you setting the agenda, to discover and build your dream self into reality.

Francis Sankey coaching model I believe in concrete coaching – that is, accompanying the mental, emotional and spiritual work of the session with a tangible reminder or exercise to reinforce it.

I believe almost everyone is coachable, every goal can be made real, and anyone can ultimately transform into the person they want to be.  You are the architect of your dreams; I only help you to engineer them.

My model for coaching:

Plan – Inspect – Adjust – Build

Planning Stage

Francis Sankey coaching model To begin, we will discuss your goals and may use various assessment tools to get a clear picture of both where you are and where you want to be.  I will provide you an open space and a sounding board to start out where you are.

Inspection

Once we begin to see the goal, we will begin to examine the foundations you will be building upon; looking at your values, beliefs, and perspectives you hold about yourself and reframe those perspectives that you find as obstacles.  We will examine challenges as they arise and look at how they impact the overall plan, or how the plan impacts them.  Then through appreciative inquiry we will hone in on your strengths and examine how to highlight and use those strengths toward “building your dream you.”

Adjusting

Francis Sankey coaching model Throughout the process, we will be looking at the answers to questions about your foundation and how they interact with your plan.  This can include looking at what you love and embrace, where your passions lie, what you ultimately want to be, and is this only a step along that path.  Depending on your answers, we will either bring the plans into clearer focus, or may discover that what we ultimately want is a few steps further away, or something different. We can then adjust goals, actions, timelines, and/or bring in more supports.

Building

Francis Sankey coaching model I will, following inspection, support you in STACKS; that is, to

  • Set reasonable, effective, rewarding goals
  • Take action throughout the process
  • Acknowledge your efforts and successes
  • Celebrate your wins and build upon them
  • Keep mind of your goal and help you remain accountable & on course
  • Set up structures with meaning to support your journey

Finishing Touches

Only you know when you are finished.  The same way sometimes a home needs an extra bedroom, or a kitchen remodel, or a bathroom gutted, you know when you need to make a change.  There will be times when you want to add a goal, make a change in method, or even look around and realize what you wanted six months ago is no longer right for you.  This coaching method not only allows for that, but explains and teaches the process as we go, allowing you the space to reevaluate months, or years, from now if that self-renovation is right for you at that time.

BE THE ARCHITECT OF YOUR OWN FUTURE!!!!
