A Flourishing Coaching Journey to Help People Reach Their Potential

What Is Flourishing?

I met the concept of flourishing first time in 1999 at a summer seminar in France about Liberty. Since then I was fascinated by the concept and what benefits it can bring to human beings. 

The dictionary defines flourishing as “developing rapidly and successfully; thriving.” I personally appreciate how broad this definition of the word is, creating openness for interpretation based on what success and development mean to each individual.

“To flourish is to find fulfillment in our lives, accomplishing meaningful and worthwhile tasks, and connecting with others at a deeper level—in essence, living the good life.”

Flourishing is a state of mind which if it is reached during the coaching journey with me. It will make us more efficient, it will offer higher resilience, make us healthier, and offer more clear life goals in our life.Flourishing Business Coaching Model Adrian Secolof

The Model

F – Find your dream

L – Learn where you are now

O – Options to explore

U – Uncover habits and emotions

R – Revise habits

I – Implement habits that bring happiness and joy

S – Structure a new life

H – Humble

The Flourishing Coaching Model is a journey of human beings to explore the inner side and find the strengths and taking the actions for developing themselves, become a better person, experience success, and in the end, living a better life.

F – Find Your Dream

The first and most important aspect of getting anything you want is knowing what you want. Think about things you do that you enjoy and love. This could be a favorite hobby of yours or something you love doing but don’t get much time to do right now.

Ask yourself what you would want to do for most of your day and why you would want to do it.

Ask yourself what you are good at, what are your hobbies or talents. Hobbies and talents don’t always match up, but you can always use talent and implement it to day to day life

L – Learn Where You Are Now

Learn where you are now by making a self-assessment. Learning about yourself is taking a lot of time but it is well worth the time invested. The more you know about yourself the better decisions you will make about the life you chose to live.

Knowing yourself will help you understand where you are, why you live the life you live. Self-knowledge will help you to align the habits with your purpose, your dream.

O – Options to Explore

Once you discovered what you want, what your dream is, and where you are now then you need to find out how to get there.

Explore the possibilities and start taking actions

Explore all the options and choose the one that is more convenient for you and suits you best.

R – Revise Habits

Revise current habits and build good habits by breaking bad ones. Revising current habits is an activity that implies a lot of observing ourselves and identify the ones that we want to change.

I – Implement Habits That Bring Happiness and Joy

Implementing new habits that can help us reach our goal is very challenging as we never stick to them for the long run. 

What is holding you back to implement new habits?

Remind yourself of the trigger that initiates the new behavior, get a routine into it, and reward yourself by building a new behavior.

S – Structure a New Life

Once new habits are formed a new life is coming up for you.

Focus on what you are adding up into your life not on what you are missing or you are giving up. Make your program your own.

H – Humble

Humility remembers none of us are greater.

“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of others.”

Humble people share the credit and wealth, remaining focused and hungry to continue the journey of success.

In essence, flourishing is achieved with and among others. It does not require gaining the goods of life exclusively for oneself and never act for sake of others.

Human flourishing includes basic or ‘generic’ goods and virtues – for example, such goods as knowledge, health, friendship, creative achievement, beauty, and pleasure – and also such virtues as integrity, temperance, courage, and justice
