Coaching Model: Action with Awareness

2019/11/02

A Coaching Model Created by Florence Adu
(Life Coach, GHANA)

Knowledge                    Action                              Devotion

(Jnana)                         (Karma)                         (Bhakhti)

Bhagavad Gita

Knowledge, Action and Devotion cannot be divided from each other, but must ultimately be synthesized. Commentaries

This model is both a science and a spiritual guide to Coach. Observations are that Spiritual teachings in all religions generally merge into the same underlying beliefs that there is more to life than what we see and know; with different approaches all relying on faith and belief. Science is another pursuit – looking into the unknown and trying to know, understand and explain. Both approaches are seeking to help maximise the benefits, capabilities and aim for the highest capacity of living.

Humankind and Action

We have continual thoughts and consciousness, which are believed to be specific to humans, how we see these materialise in ourselves and others are in some form of Action. We think a thought, but the act brings that through into the physical. We need to get some thoughts out of our minds and into action.

From here we can gain knowledge, development, contentment, peace, health, happiness and love and transformation. We are always thinking; seeking, needing desiring something in the future.

Those things help us feel a purpose beyond our basic bodily self and sustaining needs. With faith and belief, in ourselves, and actions we are moving.

  1. Thought and creativity, our minds our desires, our consciousness.

The coach explores with the coachee, using open questions, visualisation, visual or acoustic prompts or triggers, language use, and assessments.  Whatever aids the exploration.

  1. Awareness to be able to witness our thoughts and behaviours.

Questioning: that involves deeper thought. Here can be challenging and uncomfortable.

  1. Acceptance: without judgment, without fear and self-harm. Lean into Faith and belief
  2. Action, doing. Right action. Doing what is required. Right is not a value it is found in an individual’s knowledge and understanding.

SesaWoSuba (se-sawosu-ban) Akan Ghana/Ivory Coast symbol means “Change your mind/character and behaviours”. It signifies personal reflection and transformation. It is a composition of two symbols; the inner star, which represents a new day, and an outer wheel, which implies initiative and moving forward. The symbol encourages people, to make a positive change to the world by their actions.
