Coaching Model: The Coach Express

2013/12/09

A Coaching Model Created by Dina El Nahas
(Youth, Educators and Family Coaching, EGYPT)

Life coaching model for Youths and Families

Coaching is the art and practice of guiding a person or a group from where they are, towards the greater competence and fulfillment they desire. – Gray Collins

Coaching is a lifetime process that enables the client to move from current status to a better status chosen by the client.

I have chosen the Train to be my coaching model as a metaphor for the coaching journey and experience. The journey will take you from your existing starting point to your destination determined by you, where you will explore various ways to express yourself deeply and thoroughly through the journey.

The Train coaching model idea captures the essential characteristics of coaching with a special highlight and focus on Self Help, where you will identify and work on your Self Awareness, Self Development and Self Management needed to achieve your set targets or objectives. You will takeaway refreshments (The 7 habits for highly effective people) by Stephen Covey during our exciting journey.

I am here to create a confidential and safe ambiance so that you can sit back and embark on your exploratory journey. Let me brief you on the journey we will take together. The Train passes by several stations in the coaching journey, which are:

  1.  Self-discovery station
  2. Goals Setting station
  3. Action plan station
  4. Celebration station

train

Find what makes your heart sing and create your own music – Mac Anderson

Once we reach the self-discovery station, we will explore together your points of strengths and areas of uniqueness. In this station we will have a deep understanding of your values, qualities, skills, exceptional areas, talents, and much more in-depth understanding of you.

An example of exciting refreshments that will be presented to you in this station as welcome refreshment is creating your personal mission statement through using the habits of being proactive and beginning with the end in mind.

The purpose of life is a life of purpose – Ludwig Wittgenstein and Robert Byrne

This is one of the most exciting stations that we will touch in our journey. You will be able to visualize, reflect on your goals and objectives. This is to ensure that  you set for yourself an authentic goal you wish to travel towards.

I will use deep questioning process, which will enable me to understand your points of views and the blocks that come in the way of achieving your goals. I will listen to your feelings attentively – spoken and unspoken.

One of the exciting refreshments that will be presented to you in this station is creating your SMART goals through using the habits of putting first things first and thinking WIN-WIN.

Do you want to know who are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you. – Thomas Jefferson

Greetings from the station which you will be taking baby steps towards the change in your life. You will reach the station where you will differently feel the progression and achievement in your plans. Welcome to the action plan station.

I will be delighted to deeply understand and discuss your initiative steps, which are solely created by you. I will be fully present and focused to discuss the resources that you will need, challenges that you might face, and the support that you will require. Furthermore, we will set together proper timelines to work on your action plan so that you can commence execution.

One of the exciting refreshments that will be presented to you in this station is executing your action plan through using the habits of seeking first to understand then to be understood and synergizing.

train-celebration-station

The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate. – Oprah Winfrey

Congrats on reaching our last station that will be full of celebrations and acknowledgment. By reaching our final station and your desired destination we will celebrate together the immense feeling of change you achieved in your journey.

We will celebrate your achievement of your set goals or targets by presenting a final and last refreshment onboard which is the habit of sharpening your saw.
