A Coaching Model Created by Helena Nord
(Life Coach, DENMARK)
The coaching model that I have created is called CLEAR. I have chosen a sunrise as a symbol of a clear mind, with no worries, no regrets, only thoughts of a fresh start. When a new day begins you have renewed energy, new possibilities to create the day you want, and new experiences to face through your day. With a sunrise, everything can seem clearer and lighter and that is what I hope my clients will gain from my coaching.
Model
CLEAR – To see a situation clearer with new perspectives and clarity about options.
C – Coaching agreement
Clarify what the client’s goal with the coaching session is and make sure there is a coaching agreement in place.
- What do you want to achieve?
- What will this give you?
- What is important to you about this?
- What is your biggest challenge?
- What is holding you back?
L – Listen
Listen to what the client is saying, which words they use, the feelings that are hidden in the words and the beliefs that are guiding them right now. Ask questions using the words and descriptions the clients is using. Offer observations that will help the client gain a new perspective and help them to move forward instead of feeling stuck.
E – Explore
Explore what the client is saying, ask questions about the words they use, the beliefs they might have. Explore other perspectives and options. Exploring can help give the client awareness about themselves and their situation and this way gain new perspectives.
- What other options could there be?
- What other ways are there to look at this?
- Is that true?
- What would happen if that was not true?
A – Awareness
Support the client to gain awareness about themselves and their circumstances. By gaining new awareness they will be able to see new perspectives and possibilities, which will help them move forward.
R – React
Support the client in taking action and reacting when needed. Help the client in gaining the necessary support system for them to act.
- What can you do right now?
- What would happen if you did not do anything?
- What would happen if you did do something now?
- What support do you need to act?
