Coaching Model: The Marigold

2013/10/10

A Coaching Model Created by Anne Avento-Krapf
(Life Coaching, FINLAND)

The Marigold coaching model is based on:

My values which state the importance of the balance of change and stability in ones life. I see change as a great source of energy, a profound motivator and a powerful friend that questions current perspectives, strengthens awareness and builds self confidence through successful actions taken.

Stability in other hand provides me a “machan” -a platform above the ground- where I can see the big picture clearly. Establishing a balance of those two makes my life the one I enjoy most.

My believes that everyone is a professional of his/her own life and has a incredible capacity to learn and unlearn and shift to new better level of “living”. I also believe that supporting the transformational process with lightness and inviting joy & happiness as a part of coaching and through it part of ones life, opens up new perspectives and makes the changes permanent. And My strengths as a patient listener and silent logical analyst.

The model

The Marigold coaching model is here to make sure the client reaches the goals and targets that are most crucial to him/her at the present time – not forgetting that inviting joy to ones daily life ensures faster progress and long lasting results.

The Marigold coaching model is dynamic because the world around us is continuously evolving. It respects client’s expertise in his/her own life as well as the unique experiences one has gathered. The model emphasizes continuous small changes, because keeping in action builds ones self confidence and brings in joy and energy which encourages the client to transform & live the life he/she truly desires.

The Marigold coaching model has been developed to serve different coaching needs from laser coaching e.g. at work place to long term coaching relationship. One can enter to the model from any single point of the circle, which increases the flexibility of the model and answers to the practical challenge where the client enters the coaching sometimes with ready set goals and targets but with no actions, sometimes with many actions planned (maybe even on going) but with fuzzy goal etc.

An example of the flow of the Marigold coaching model;

G Goal

The client enters into the coaching with a clearly set goal that comes from the company he is working for. In coaching we will first turn the goal to a personal one. We will have a look on this goal as a part of the client’s life – what is the greater goal he has for life -how does achieving this goal support the big picture or how he can make it to support it. The client will take the ownership of the goal.

O Options

How we create the success? What are the alternative ways to achieve the goal? Keeping the big picture clear, how can the client break it to the pieces that are achievable, motivating and once done highly energizing.

L Life & realities

What are the core strengths of the client, witch parts of the project will flow naturally? Where he needs to pay special attention to gain the best results? What are the other resources he can/ could use and where? How does his present life situation support him to achieve this goal? Any negative or weak tones found -the coach will coach on those; help the client to gain more awareness, reframe his perspective, establish structures needed, change underlying believes etc.

D Development & action

Here we take care of the execution, development of the project, continuous action taking place both towards the concrete goal as well as the transformation needed to take these actions in a sustainable way that supports the big picture.

I enjoy using the model in corporate environment, but it has proven to work in “pure” life coaching too.

Marigold – the herb of sun

is a symbol of passion and creativity.

In many Asian cultures it represents joy, happiness and abundance.

Marigolds may be plentiful but each flower ( like each of us)

is unique and beautiful and reflects the divine.
