I enjoyed a deep class with Leon today, the best takeaway I got from that class was ORID Coaching model.
‘O’ stands for objective
The facts and goals that the client knows.
‘R’ stands for reflective
How people felt about the topic being evaluated. What they liked and disliked.
‘I’ stands for interpretive
What were the issues or challenges.
‘D’ stands for decisional
What is our decision or response.
Leon pointed out that many coaches jump forward from O: What’s your goal? to What’s next step?…..he insisted on taking the time to help clients reflect deeply on their feelings,motives,meaning, and significance of what they share.
It’s simply enlightening thought for my practice. Thanks Leon. I wish you all ICA instructors have your engaging approach and solid foundation.
