Coaching Case Study: Let’s call her “Lu”

Christiane Christy Evenepoel case study

Coaching Case Study By Christiane (Christy) Evenepoel
(Life Coach & Stage Presence Expert Coach, BELGIUM)

  1. Who are the main players in this case study

 Lu…. Young talented Belgium singer

  1. What is the core problem or challenge you applied your coaching skills to?

Why is it a problem?

Lu…. first came to me because she wanted to reach a new level in her carreer, she felt lost as a singer in Belgium, having done already all that she could to promote herself as a singer but nothing was happening.

She was uninspired and felt trapped. She also felt that her relationship with her Manager (who is her boyfriend) was not pushing to the right direction.

How long has it been a problem?

She started to feel that way 6 years ago.

She had won “the Belgium got talent” and had high hopes for the future.

Sadly nobody knew what to do with talent and after few trial with different manager, she find herself on her own.

What is the worst thing about this problem?

Her self worth was so low; she hated her body and her skin.

She had stop writing music and was forced to work in a restaurant to survive.

She didn’t trust herself, her voice and her vision of being on stage sharing her gift with thousand of people in front of her.

Why has no one been able to solve it so far?

Her beliefs and doubt did take over; she just thought there was no other way.

She ask for help many times but artists and different Managers in Belgium just told her she wanted to much…

  1. What specific coaching skills or approach did you use in this case?

All of them J

But Intent, Visualization and gratitude were the main ones

3. Explain your process in detail

We had 10 sessions together.

At first I was just there to listen to her, asking her questions. I was not easy for her to talk about herself, her feelings and her beliefs. Her responses were quick and all see wanted from me was advice and my contacts in NYC with managers, agents, …

We talk about her vision for the future, the goals she wanted for herself.

I used visualization on her and it was then that she starts to feel “alive” again.

She opened up about some emotional abuse she had in her childhood from her father and other important man figure.

She believes those words: “I’m not beautiful, I don’t deserve it, I must be prideful to think I will be successful, I’m too old to start an international career (comparing herself with Justin Bieber), if I want a family I should not be an Artist,…”

The powerful questioning enable me to help her realized how abusive her self-talk was and she decided to change the way she describe and talk to herself.

It was normal for her to think that something was always going to be wrong.

I help her to create new habits, rituals and structure according to her vision of success.

She started to celebrate her wins and write a gratitude journal everyday.

Every morning she put on paper her intention for the day and practice mediation.

We decided that each time she has a pimple she would laugh at the Universe and would say: “You can test me all you want, I love myself now and forever”.

She became more and more open, honest and vulnerable and most of all she began to incarnate the new her.

A stronger and more confidant version of herself.

Her vision of her Art is now a healthy one.

  1. What were the results of your process? Was your coaching/program effective? Why? Why not?

She made her new video “Break free” and launched this March 2018  on YouTube.

She is moving to the USA in April 2018 for 6 month and will promote herself with her new single “Break free” in NYC and Los Angeles.

  1. If you could approach this problem again, what would you do differently?

I would spend less time trying in my head to solve her artistic career, wanting to manage her and bring her business solutions.

Getting personal and more curious on her vision of herself would have help me to be more present and neutral without waking up “the Artist consultant” in me.

  1. What are the top 3 things you learnt from this experience?

The first issue is never really the issue. Digging deeper is the keys to the real truth.

Not everyone can embrace success positively, you have to be ready and have the positive believes as well as be aligned with your true value to be truly successful.

Self-love and positive inner conversation are essential to build the best version of yourself.
