It is not unexpected that practicing gratitude at night improves our quality of sleep and makes us feel happier when we wake up, given our current understanding of how sentiments of “gratitude” cause the “brain” to release dopamine and serotonin. Once again, the most efficient firing patterns that produce the highest rewards become the most repetitive because neurons that fire together wire together. Daily life also involves the use of memory aids, which are tangible devices that can improve memory. Here, it refers to an item or “special stone” that is held while thinking back on the day with gratitude. This small device near the bedside acts as a reminder to carry out the exercise, which releases dopamine and serotonin.
