Program Updates to take effect as of 1st July

Robyn Logan

As of July all our programs will have fresh curriculum, increased portfolio opportunities, Learning Labs, and Mentor Coaching.  Business Development and a Coaching Mastermind group will also be added to our elite Advanced program. These changes are to be sure our programs are aligned with ICF ACTP requirements, and to add value to your learning.

What's Changing and Why...

Why Are The Programs Changing?

We regularly review programs to be sure that they are completely aligned with ICF accreditation requirements, continue to be industry relevant, and continue to provide the best learning experience and pathways for students.  As of the 1st July all programs will benefit from a fresh structure and curriculum.  Program pricing will also increase, although existing students will be automatically extended the new programs at no additional cost.

What are the Benefits to Existing Students?

What's New in Certified Coach...

  • Supevised Coaching Becomes Observed Coaching

Observed Coaching is a new ICF requirement that all ACTP’s must deliver by 2016.  We are actually already delivering this in your current program, but it’s called Supervised Coaching.  So, the only change here is in the name and a slight change in hours.

  • Coaching Practicum becomes Mentor Coaching

Mentor Coaching is a relatively new ICF requirement that all ACTP’s must deliver by 2016.  We are already delivering this in your current program, but it’s called Coaching Practicum. The only change here is in the name and a slight change in hour and number of sessions you must coach.

  • Current Assessments become Course Outcomes

The current assessment requires students to create a Coaching Power tool, Coaching Model and Research Paper (or case study). These will now become recommended course outcomes and are not assessable.   They will however make up your coach portfolio, and will be what you use to position yourself as a coach.

  • New Assessment - online exam and oral exam

Students already complete the oral exam as part of their Supervised (soon to be Observed) Coaching. This won’t change.  But, a new online exam will be added as an end of course assessment. This is similar in structure to the Coaching Knowledge Assessment, as required for an ICF credential.  So, a great preparation tool for those planning an ICF credential.

This exam is not meant to ‘trip you up’…it’s designed to showcase your success and you will be well prepared before you sit it.

Students graduating between July and September will have a choice to sit the exam for assessment, or submit via the previous assessment criteria.

  • 18 months unlimited access to Peer Coaching

As of the 1st July, the minimum peer coaching requirement will 20 hours.  This is significantly less than the current requirement.  However, students are welcome to do more, and have 18 months unlimited access to the peer coaching community (with the Advanced program, this is lifelong access)

  • Introducing Course Labs

There are now three types of teleclasses you will attend as part of your studies.

    Topic Teleclasses
Previously you would do these twice.  You now only do them once.  In this class we will teach you the theory, share professional and personal exampls, and dig into the module concepts.

    Course Labs (new)
This is where you extend your learning, and workshop your course outcomes.  Each course area has a required number of labs

    Observed Coaching Teleclasases
These are where you complete the assessment requirements for your program. You attend these only after you have attended all other teleclasses and they are the last step before graduation.

    * For students who have already completed 2 instances of a module – that’s completely fine.  As a transitioning student you must have attended 69 hours of teleclasses.  You must take each module once.  But if you done a module twice, then you can count that as a class taken and reduce the number of labs you attend.
