Coaching Aplication:
Our clients may feel tired and lost their inspiration to pursue on their goals. Everyone had undergone several low points in life that caused discouragement to persevere. By examining the situation to see the factors that serves as barrier to their vibrant plans, we can determine the things or situations that they must give up to become successful.
How can we help our clients to persevere? By supporting our clients clarify their goals and planning for success can make a huge difference, it can keep them motivated and focus on their dream. Here is a little plan you can use with your clients.
- Know your client’s goal:
- What exactly do you want to accomplish?
- What will it look like when you reach your objective?
- How can you quantify this goal so we will know when you have reached it?
- Why achieving this goal is important to you?
- What is your deadline?
- Planning to achieve success:
- What knowledge, skills, and abilities do you need to develop in order to achieve your goal?
- What resources and support do you need?
- What are the potential obstacles?
- When do you plan to achieve your goal?
- How can we measure your success?
- Take action by breaking your goal into action steps:
- What short-term goals are related to your main goal? List at least 5 short term goals.
- What tasks can you relate to each one of your short-term goals?
- What will you do by when?
When working on achieving goals, we can face obstacles that can make us think about giving up. Explore the obstacles together to see what is getting in your client’s way and how you can remove them from their path.
- Persevering:
- What makes this hard to get done?
- What one resource or tool would make all the difference if I had it?
- What will I lose if I stay “here” and don’t chase this goal?
- What is the worst thing it can happen?
- What belief is behind your responses? Is that belief serving you?
- What things do you need to give-up (beliefs, bad habits) so you can keep moving?
Identifying what obstacles are in your client’s way and what beliefs are holding them back can allow you to encourage your clients to persevere. At the same time, helping your clients to be aware of the right time to give up on the right things which may seem important, but aren’t supportive at all, can help them to reach the top.
Perseverance is the key to win any race and to attract success by dwelling on our lives.
Continuous effort – not strength or intelligence – is the key to unlocking our potential.
